About this Blog

Meet my very 1st horse, Lazarus.
I couldn't wait for Santa anymore or ask one more time for a pony for my bday (after age 30 it got embarrassing). I took matters in my own hands and I finally decided to pick a pony that needed a new home. Laz found me as I contemplated with this idea. He was sweet yet very sassy, fresh off the track, Thoroughbred (OTTB).

Am I hallucinating?

I know I'm horse obsessed...but literally the horse was EVERYWHERE this weekend when I went home to Evanston, to visit my family
This sculpture is showcased downtown E-town and part of Northwestern's Campus.
I'm pretty sure I randomly saw this artists work, while strolling around London a couple years ago too

It's just gorgeous and so well done
It...He...She..seems to move as you walk around it
Oh Laz..I missed you this weekend!
Yes, I patted the sculpture's muzzle as I walked by
I think the artist would feel honored
This is my photo of a store front in London, in Feb of 2009
Seems like it could be the same artist.  What are the odds?!
Pretty cool that this stick horse keeps following me around the world.

And on Sunday, on our way into the city for my MUCH needed Dim Sum request of brunch craving, I saw the Field Museum lite up in a glory of HORSE!
I literally screamed "WHAAAAT?! is that!????!!!!" What's going on there?!"
My Dad yanked out his iphone quickly so we could snap photos for my blog.
Thanks Mom for your skill with Dad's phone and promptly emailed the images to me
Then I kept seeing these banners hung everywhere in the city....so cool
We took this cruddy picture heading back home after brunch on Lake Shore Drive (as you can tell from rear window) but the glory of "The HORSE" was awesomely displayed in that beautiful museum front.
You can click HERE for more about the exhibit!
I plan on going for sure, when I return to Chicago in about a month!
The exhibit thankfully is up until August, I was so worried it would be gone by the time I got back.
Can't wait!!!!!

Lastly...when shopping around downtown Etown, we went into this cool rock store when my eyes, of course, were drawn to this rock.
Obviously has a new home in my home.

I can't wait to see my real horse tomorrow!!!

  1. Thanks for making me homesick! I totally heart the Field and could wander around there for hours (well, I HAVE, several times, of course). Chicago is a great city, but I definitely don't miss it in the winter!

  2. How cool is that?! Horses everywhere. I'm so far from Chicago, but have always wanted to experience the art and architecture there... a super cultural city. :)

  3. I usually go to Chicago every year on this coming weekend for a moot court competition (I coach law students)... and this is the first year I'm not going!! What are the odds?! Hmph. Anyway, glad you are going to get a chance to go!

  4. That is so cool! My parents always got a kick out of me as a kid because no matter where we went I would always immediately spot any horses. :) I'm one of the most unobservant people you'll ever meet (you got a haircut! Oh it's been a week? Oops), but I always notice the horses. That's so cool that you were seeing them all over Chicago. I absolutely love the stick horse. If I ever win millions I'll have to have the artist make me one lol. :D

  6. I got so excited about that exhibit and I don't think there is any way to make it there...except that I will be in Illinois in August. I wonder if it will still be there then...I'll have to check out the website you provided. I like those stick horses, and I also think there is a somewhat creepy element to them. They are more beuatiful than they are creepy though. isn't it great how a sculpture can be both???

  7. I went to that exhibit over spring break! It was pretty neat, and I love the Field museum anyways.

I also LOVED seeing horse posters all over the city. Hope you enjoyed your visit!

  8. Isn't it the funniest thing when you are out and about on an un-horsey adventure and it becomes horsey? I love that! I also think that is so cute of your parents whipping out the phone and getting photos and sending to you for the blog!

That first horse sculpture is amazing how it looks like it moves. That is what makes it so great, I think.

I am sure your heart was aching missing Laz while seeing all this horse stuff. That happens to me - I plan a day away and then talk about the boys nonstop and bore everyone.

  9. Deborah Butterfield does those sculptures in the U.S. Heather Jansch in the U.K. :)

  10. I'd say it's a sign, all those horses everywhere! I love love love the sculpture in the garden. I was going to ask who it was, but thanks to Heidi I no longer need to! I'm going to go look the artist up right now.
