This is what I saw pulling up to the barn.
I had to go two days without seeing my brown babe...work got so crazy!
He was happy to see me because he was hot and itchy
So, we started with our favorite Harrod's soft rubber curry.
Yes, Laz got something from Harrod's last time I was in London...I did not.
Followed by our shedding blade that really did a great job...
His armpit, belly area fur can literally be plucked off.
Anyone want a Laz sweater?
Looking a bit better, and definitely more comfortable
I thought I would do a running braid...
Laz felt otherwise...
He gleefully shook it out of his silken thick mane
So, I kindergarten chopped his mane!
I had a moment of "do I do this or keep it long?
I like the short
I think it shows off his ewe neck better ;)
**side note; after viewing this picture, I worked on his RF hoof, bringing his heel down a bit more, as well as his LH
Maybe I can make Mason a baby Laz stuffed animal??
Some bird is going to have a soft nest...
Look at this choco faced angel in the sunshine!
He loves going to the barn and I'm so happy I can take him every time
After our grooming session, we hand walked down the dirt road
I'm trying to pretend Laz is at Rockley and provide him with varied terrain for his hoof health
Little snacking along the way...
I'm liking the way Laz is looking!
Compare above from this week, to below, April 2009 before he got ill.
Doesn't look so much different anymore :)
It looks like you took his hair shorts off and left his butt naked lol!
ReplyDeleteLOL, no clipping, just currying/blading off what comes off. It's a hot mess :)
DeleteKristen he is looking absolutely FABULOUS! He has always been an adorable boy but now he looks so fit-and sorry, I don't see an ewe neck at all:) Your hard work is really paying off in spades. I'm so happy for you two!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! One day we need to get our wonderOTTB's together for a trail ride :)
DeleteLaz looks fab - he doesn't have a ewe neck either! We may have to do the mane chop too - it's gettin' bushy up in there yo. :)
ReplyDeleteWill you share a photo tip? I've noticed a beautiful (different) quality to some of your photos - I like them all btw, but the first two and the second one of Mason in this post almost look like illustrations...
Oh yea, I'm obsessed! I take all my pictures with my iPhone 4S, but I think any iPhone (not sure about other smart phones) has this App; Camera+ (it's free)
DeleteYou take your photo with that App, then under Edit, I love the color saturation of "HDR" which makes it indeed look like an illustration or fashion photo journalisticluciousness!
Cool! Thanks for sharing. I'm giving myself an iphone for my birthday. Just another reason to love apple products. :)
DeleteHe does look amazing! And I think you should just quest after a rockley of your own, little runways and all ;-)
ReplyDeleteHe looks so good! My girls are loosing tons of hair too. It's crazy how much they are shedding right now.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a lot of hair! Laz is looking so good! I love the photos, Ill have to look for a similar app on the droid.
ReplyDeleteAnd Mason is such a happy boy! Lucky him!!
He looks great! Yes, the 80 degree came way to early for our poor horses. They truly are molting and can't shed it fast enough. Of course, being that it's fickle March, colder temps are returning with nights back in the 20's. I'd like to keep the bugs away for at least another month!
ReplyDeleteI like Laz's mane short, it reminds me of him getting his hair cut for the upcoming spring/summer. Too bad there isn't "locks of love" for horses huh?
ReplyDeleteWow, he is looking good, so much hair too!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! I love all those puffs of hair! What a furry guy Laz has been! I also love the karate chop you gave his mane! I want to do that to my mare but her mane is very thin and wispy that it wouldn't look nearly as nice as Laz's. I think he is looking great. It looks like things are really coming up roses for him....or in his case forsythia? YEAY SPRINGTIME!
DeleteHe looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteHe looks fabulous!!! I love how much the ponies enjoy the spring (minus shedding).
