Since having my iphone, I have to say, it's the most fun phone I've ever had.
I downloaded this app called Endomondo and it tracks your 'workouts'
I downloaded this app called Endomondo and it tracks your 'workouts'
They have riding as one of the options (running, biking, you name it)
I'm using it so far, for the days that I'm actually hand walking Laz
(I know it says riding, but we are hand walking in the images below)
Isn't this cool?
You hit start as you begin your workout and then end when complete and it's shows your info.
I can see how far we went, what speed we were going at and in below, Laz and I did intervals of walking and running (him trotting) so I can see our avg speed vs max speed (lol we are slow)
GPS shows you where you went, we did this road walk twice yesterday for instance so it shows it double thick and where we stopped a couple times to grab Mason or wait for a passing car.
This app will be so GREAT for trail rides!!
No getting lost, tracking where we are going, where we are, where we were, etc.
Here's a video of a snippet of our hand running/trotting
Sorry for the phone turning fyi...
Do you use any apps out at the barn?
Cool! Just downloaded for myself to track our rides. :) Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteKaren-I'm sure there are more cool parts to this app, I haven't played with it too much, but so far, it's so fun and easy to use :)
DeleteWell, I obsessively check my Weather Channel app whilst at the barn, lol. "Should I put all his hay outside, or is it going to rain, so should I put half inside and half outside? Should I put his fan on? Does he need a sheet?" That's pretty much it for me!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I'm weather/wind OBSESSED too, lol!
DeleteCan't wait to get my iphone. Have to plan a trip off island to the nearest Verizon store - an all day trip. (I didn't know there were horsey apps - sweet!)
ReplyDeleteCFS-I have Verizon too and ended up getting my iphone thru Target, a little cheaper, no lines to wait in and same contract, etc all thru Verizon. Have fun!
DeleteI don't have an iPhone, I wonder if it would work on my android? Is it easy to upload the info to your computer?
ReplyDeleteSuper easy, I downloaded to my phone not my main computer and YES it will work on Droid or it says it will. Blackberry too.
DeleteVery cool! I had a similar one for bike riding, but this one seems much better. I am definitely going to check it out. Keep up the good work with Laz!
ReplyDeleteOk, I am @ the barn now and realized I use my I Heart Radio app out here a lot, too -- gotta rock out while cleaning Salem's stall!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to have it for trail rides. I wonder if it's easier to use than my GPS?
ReplyDeleteI love the GPS version of it, it's free as an app so nice to have variations maybe :)
DeleteWould love to, but I still cannot afford a fancy phone, LOL. Very cool though!!!
ReplyDeleteSay, that phone IS fun! My horse guy Bill has one and he does all kinds of crazy cool things with it. I wouldn't mind that GPS since when I am out meadering on the trail I have gotten myself into a sticky wicket a few times wondering where the trail went. the quality of the video is AWSUM and it gave me an opportnity to stand on my head at work which ios not something I get to do nearly enough.
ReplyDeleteI have my phone out 24/7, I think. I'm also weather obsessed and I use runkeeper to track how many miles we've gone (it's all pretty much arena work, but I still count the miles). And if we do make it onto a trail, it shows and saves the exact route and says the mileage/time taken/etc.
