About this Blog

Meet my very 1st horse, Lazarus.
I couldn't wait for Santa anymore or ask one more time for a pony for my bday (after age 30 it got embarrassing). I took matters in my own hands and I finally decided to pick a pony that needed a new home. Laz found me as I contemplated with this idea. He was sweet yet very sassy, fresh off the track, Thoroughbred (OTTB).

Playing around

The BO "C" and I having fun on 4 yr old Sawyer, one of their four horses. Sawyer is SO sweet and gave a couple funny bunny hops with us on his back.
I rode him for about 15 minutes prior to this and boy am I out of shape!! I could hardly stay on his bareback swinging style. His trot is like riding the hips of Marilyn Monroe, back and forth, back and forth!

We just rode him around once...no worries!
My DH's turn on Sawyer. Notice how hard he tries to do 'heels down!' lol!!! :)
Annnnnnd.... with his so very 'proper' equine clothing of swishy pants, he had an unexpected dismount. Fortunately for this basketball boy, being 6'4" he just basically landed on his foot and stepped off! LOL! We was out just helping with shavings, etc, didn't intend to ride but he's always up for a quick 10 minute around the round pen.
My husband rocks!!!
Billy and BO "J" with our two dogs and their two dogs. This was the best picture we could get with all the excitement. Carley and Pudge played the entire time
Little Ellie strolling up with the beautiful sun setting behind her
She is quite social and a very smart girl, and turns 2 this year
Laz was moving around so much, this was literally the best shot I got of him all day. Nice withers! He is doing well and we are counting down to Friday for our barefoot appointment!
The weather has been rainy but warm. Officially I put my long johns away and my ski/barn coat and couldn't be happier!

  1. I can tell by the tone of this post that things are definitely looking better for the Laz Man! You're back to your funny, happy-go-lucky self, which is great to see. :-) And I had to checkle at your hubby in his swishy pants -- too cute!
And this helmet nazi is giving you props for wearing your helmet even for a little bareback walk-around. Definitely a good example, so kudos to you!
Of course we are all waiting with bated breath for the first barefoot post. Make sure ya take lots of pics. I've got fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for your sweet boy.

  2. I love seeing you laugh and play!!! Sounds like a great day at the barn for people and puppies and horses. That photo is so funny of Carley and Pudge because they are staring at each other waiting for the picture to be done so that can back at their play! Glad that Laz is moving and having fun. Can't wait till Friday!

  3. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Glad to see that you are out having fun. That is definitely a good sign!!

  4. Hoping for good news from the barefoot guy. I should have said before that when my horse had that bulge it turned out to be caused by the restriction of the groove in the wall causing the lateral cartilage to be squeezed so it bulged up and out.

And, yes, kudos for the helmet from another helmet nazi.

  5. Thanks everyone!:) With Laz acting normal, it makes me encouraged!!! I am SO nervous for Friday but sooo excited to get started on his rehab.

Anonymous-first off, I wish I knew your name! :) 2ndly- that is hopeful to hear that someone else went thru a similar situation. I wonder if that is what Laz's bulge is too? It doesn't seem to hurt him when i touch it like it did a month ago. Hmmmmmm

YES..on helmets!! I dont care if people think it's silly or think they are good enough riders to not wear one...its silly to not wear a helmet. I know it doesn't prevent all injuries but it helps so why not. :)

  6. What a great day! Please let us all know how Friday's appointment turns out. I too am anxious for you! We love barefoot horses : )
