About this Blog

Meet my very 1st horse, Lazarus.
I couldn't wait for Santa anymore or ask one more time for a pony for my bday (after age 30 it got embarrassing). I took matters in my own hands and I finally decided to pick a pony that needed a new home. Laz found me as I contemplated with this idea. He was sweet yet very sassy, fresh off the track, Thoroughbred (OTTB).

We rode a TON in Kensington this Fall after we found our secret connector trail.

#4-Teach Laz to come to me at a whistle --unCHECK--I totally forgot about this! lol oh well, we still do a TON of groundwork so whistleschmistel. I was overly excited about seeing WarHorse at the time...
#5-Work on my fitness so I'm a stronger rider --MEH but we did ride more so it sorta counts
#6. Keeping learning more about barefoot trimming. --CHECK!
What fun year!! Thanks Laz

GOALS FOR 2013
#1-Continue to keep Laz healthy, happy and sound
This will forever be our numero uno!

#2-Work more on Laz's riding form (and MINE!)
A better balanced canter (sans attitude), a more active Trot and maayyybe some gallop work??

#3-Take a winter trail ride
Enjoy the trails year round

#4-Go camping with Laz
How fun would that be!? I may actually be able to do this, this summer...we'll see! Working on it...

#5-Try jumping 12"-18" or X rails or Logs out on a trail
IF his hoof/body can allow and only IF!!!

#6-Work more on our Parelli, (at Liberty?) and really try to focus on our partnership
This will overall help us both in saddle and in our communication

Looking forward to another fun and
exciting year with this very special OTTB

  1. Love this post and your goals! You've inspired me to do some for me and G...which I've never done!

  2. You've got some of the same goals as I do! I'm forever working on my fitness level, and I'd love to get Harley more balanced. I can check off the winter trail ride--it's our only option when winter comes to Maine! We'd love to go camping with our horses too. I've found a couple of places with cabins where you can bring your horse--don't know about the tenting option (which fits the budget better). I've got to get to work on my list for 2013!

  6. What is that comment by anonymous about your blog? I am baffled because I feel very connected with you and Laz, even though I have never met you. I see in the last picture that Laz is wearing a bitless bridle! Just like the one I have been using with Lilly. I really like it. I know you've probably blogged about this bridle already, but I;d love to hear again why you use it and if you also use a bit with Laz.
I love your goals and how you went back and checked in with last year's. Good lord, that is so organized! I am going to try it too!

    2. UGH you are getting all that useless spam too? I thought there was a way to stop anon. comments? I forget now. When was that picture of Laz's hind hoof taken? Just curious. Glad to see you have achieved many goals and have much more.

    3. Hi Syd, this past late July, that hoof shot is of his LH, not the RH :)

  7. Congratulations on your checkmarks on last year's list! What a good year for you two. My favorite one is the finding of the secret trail that takes you to the park! Hooray for that! Good luck in the new year and enjoy your pony. That is the most important goal, but you already know that!
