About this Blog

Meet my very 1st horse, Lazarus.
I couldn't wait for Santa anymore or ask one more time for a pony for my bday (after age 30 it got embarrassing). I took matters in my own hands and I finally decided to pick a pony that needed a new home. Laz found me as I contemplated with this idea. He was sweet yet very sassy, fresh off the track, Thoroughbred (OTTB).

1st ride at new barn

 Seriously??
I am in LOVE with this new place.
This is what I saw driving in...is this not the most serene happy scene?
It is for me.
Laz grazing with his buddies.
He's the brown spot on the left fyi
 Mason approves too
"Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!"
So what do you get when you stack two milk crates?
A mounting block fit for a tall OTTB boy
I decided to walk Laz around the 'riding pasture' today.
No time like the present and since he seems so at ease, I thought 'why not!'
We walked only for a couple of reasons
A. He's got a soft spot on his RR that was just found after his last trim, so I don't want to push it.
B. To also allow Laz to feel comfortable for our first official ride....but really 99.9% because of above
He did so awesome. First off, I 'established' our new outside grooming spot.
I can groom in the barn, but I'm out outside groomer girl, so I set him up and I only had to put him back twice.  After that, he got it, and just sighed and cocked a leg and started playing with my brushes in his pail.
He got it.
He also rubbed all over the milk crates and stood like a ROYAL statue as I hopped on bareback.
Yes yes yes.
Good boy isn't pulling any stunts like "uhhhhh this is different therefore I don't get it therefore I will be crazzzzeeeee!!!"
Nothing but happy, licking, sweet ears perked, worker boy, huge heart OTTB.

We cruised for a half hour all around the pasture area.
VERY fun. We weaved in and out of the tree line, walked up the little hills, down the little hills, etc
It was fun! It's huge and great footing and Laz didn't spook once.
He did give the big water tank the STINK eye but that was it. He walked by several times when I asked
I also had Mason in with me for this ride, and I think Mason gives Laz a little confidence companionship boost. Go Mason!

Below shows the open gate that I just shut to keep the other 3 horses out of the riding pasture, when we are in there working.  I only bring Mason in with me, when it's just Laz and I.
Good boy Mason got great exercise in too as he 'trotted' along with us, the whole time pre-sniffing out all the lions, and bears and dragons out for Laz to safely walk around.

  3. Wonderful ride and good Laz adjusting so quickly. He must be happy there! I like that Mason helped you with confidence. Laz sees him as a safe buddy to "ride" with.
