About this Blog

Meet my very 1st horse, Lazarus.
I couldn't wait for Santa anymore or ask one more time for a pony for my bday (after age 30 it got embarrassing). I took matters in my own hands and I finally decided to pick a pony that needed a new home. Laz found me as I contemplated with this idea. He was sweet yet very sassy, fresh off the track, Thoroughbred (OTTB).

A quiet lead into February

Oh winter
It's beautiful no doubt. But it's also COLD and hard to maneuver through.
I wish everyday that I lived closer than 40-1 hour away from the barn, but I don't
In some terrible winter weather days, it's taken me an hour and a half only to get to the dirt roads that are impassable and I have to turn right around and go home.
I'm not about to walk 4 miles of snowy dirt roads with Mason just to pat Laz
Two weeks ago I was able to hop on again for a bareback ride.
The snow is SO deep that it's labor intensive for trotting not to mention some days there is an ice crust on the top
Looking out on his summer pastures...soon Pony
A chill pony, I wonder if he's bored too.
I long for a trail ride

 Snow shadow
Pito even joined us for our pasture walk around...

My visit before my quick vacation (yes I escaped for a 4 night girls trip in Naples, FL)
Napping Pony in the sun
It's funny...after the 1st Polar Vortex I told myself I can NEVER worry about Laz in the cold again.
If he did so well through that hell, he's fine for winter.

Here it was 17 and he's already starting to shed. He's always soooo warm and always has hay/shelter so he's a winter babe for sure

Half napping, half wanting to play with Mason
Mason just wants me to play with him...Laz tries to sneak a sniff in
 Half mast eyes
 White covered chocolate
The barn's driveway is so narrow and deep in the snow trench it's tough to even drive through
Is it going to be a muddy like crazy Spring??
A fun video the BO sent me while I was laying out on a beach sucking down a Miami Vice
Yes...NO GUILT :)

  1. Oh, I hear you - I am living this!

Lovely Laz, warm and sleepy, and bored and snoozing in the snowy sunshine. My boys seem more annoyed than Laz. Our pastures are crusty and icy and somewhat ouchy to them I think. So glad that Laz and Pito are so happy and content in their snow globe.

Also glad you got away to Florida! We worked on our trip itinerary all night this evening. I can barely think about it - waiting for another foot of snow tonight. Maizie's school cancelled and I put the boys in the barn - again.

  2. Sorry for the "all night this evening" part - my computer is wrecked - no "l" when I type - I have to punch the keyboard and I can't concentrate. Too worn out from barn work to think too well anymore.

  3. Ah FLorida....what a nice little escape! ;-) We had some snow but now it is warming up and raining on top of it- ick! Makes a mushy slushy mess that refreezes every night. Not fun for pasture horse management!
