About this Blog

Meet my very 1st horse, Lazarus.
I couldn't wait for Santa anymore or ask one more time for a pony for my bday (after age 30 it got embarrassing). I took matters in my own hands and I finally decided to pick a pony that needed a new home. Laz found me as I contemplated with this idea. He was sweet yet very sassy, fresh off the track, Thoroughbred (OTTB).

July pony time

This post is basically a quick summary of most of the month
Rain, rain and heat and storms.
Below are the two OTTBs grazing one evening in the rain, happily.
In the major heat, my BO fed hay because the boys chose to stand in the stalled shade most of the day versus grazing
I fed dinner this evening..here they are racing up after I gave a whistle
Fatty "YUMMMMMS!!"
Soaking wet muzzle in full on molest mode
"FEEEEDZ ME!!"
My after work feeding attire; slip off wedges for rainboots.
Tres chic I know
After the rain photo opt
My best partner in crime, happy to be cooler and wet
Feeding time
A quick lunge after they digested a bit, and I used a fallen stick from a storm, as a cavaletti
Eye to eye
Another day, the BO and I did a quick bareback road ride. It was great and the weather wasn't 1000 degrees
Another day, I had a bareback pad ride
It WAS HOT so it was very relaxed but I wanted to keep him moving. His hoof cast has fallen off but he's remained sound
I rode him just in his halter. Floral portrait anyone?
One day driving out to the barn, I saw a tiny Momma deer and her Bambi drinking rain puddles
So cute and small!
Into the secret trail...
Last Saturday, the BO and I wanted to see if our boys could handle a trail ride at our nearby system.
If one pulled up sore/lame, we could quickly turn around home. It's great when we are all on the same page.
Heading down the busier dirt road to our connector trail
Gorgeous! I think the last time I rode here was back in March!
We had a ball and both the boys did great. We kept them at a walk.
Pito is healing from a possible suspensory injury, and Laz..well, he's better but he's had a few off weeks
Our ride
Starting tomorrow, I watch the barn/boys for a week which means I'll drive twice a day to feed
I love feeding the horses and being there early/late-it's a great way to start/end the hectic day.
It will be a juggle as my work schedule is wonderfully crazzzzytown right now

  2. Sounds like you've had the same HOT weather. Looking forward to August and Sept.
Cute shots of the deer, and of course, you with Laz!

  3. Happy times with your boy - wet muzzle kisses and baby deer and above all else - sound walking rambles into the secret forest. Have fun this week. We all need to live with our ponies and enjoy the morning and afternoon feeding fun every day of the year.

  4. That looks like an awesome place to ride. Glad it went so well. Can you think of a better way to spend 57 minutes over 3 miles? Umm no. We too are glad to give the heat and humidity the ole heave ho. Now it is downright fall-like! Great for riding. Laz sure looks good.
